Are New Trucks Really Built For Off Road?

So I got a call for a brand new truck stuck in the sand. Are these new vehicles really built for the off road?

  • Is not that they are not built for it the biggest problem i see here is people do not air down their tires! Almost all pf those rescues it they would lower tires to 10-12 psi they would of been right out!

  • Look at these cool low profile tires on chrome rims on my off-road rig, they look good. Why do I keep getting stuck? Also, momentum gets you through the tough spots, especially soft sand.

    Lelen BatesLelen Bates17 soat oldin
    • Yeah, momentum either gets you through, or it gets you in really deep. I almost got stuck in a sand pit once, with a trailer. Glad I didn't use momentum, because that allowed me to reverse out of there after just a few minutes of digging. The road was just three meters in front of me, but there was no way I could've gotten enough momentum to bridge those three meters while driving in the sand.

  • Pretty sad when a Jeep can go places an ATV can’t go. It looked to me as though they were not getting much power to the front wheels so I wonder if they had issues with their 4WD system.

    LTVoyagerLTVoyager3 kun oldin
    • @stickvortex True, but even so it appeared the ATVs front wheels were spinning much slower than the rears as though the power split to the front was insufficient.

      LTVoyagerLTVoyagerSoat oldin
    • Well, the jeep has been specifically modified for this type of terrain and is being driven by experienced people. The ATV, like the Ram look completely stock and are being driven by people that probably have little to no experience.

      stickvortexstickvortex2 soat oldin
  • Simply let your tyres down and will be alot better!

Utah Get Me 2Utah Get Me 23 kun oldin
  • I’m looking for a little feedback here: is it primarily the weight, tires, or the driver that results in these 1/2 ton trucks being stuck all of the time? I have been thinking about a tundra because it would serve my needs but it’s kind of a downer to think it comes naturally for them to get stuck.

    Joey CookJoey Cook3 kun oldin
    • Weight, ride height and how the car distributes it's power to the wheels. The main reason those new cars get stuck is the weight, they are way too heavy for the soft sand.

      Pink ShadePink Shade5 soat oldin
  • If people carried simple recovery tracks, MaxTracs, they wouldn't need a tow

  • People just don’t know how to drive over certain terrain. There’s sort of an art to picking the right line and knowing when to hit the gas and when to go easy and how to steer. You can get anything stuck but people think money makes up for experience

    Andy DAndy D7 kun oldin
  • I noticed it's more of a trendy thing. They create the 4x4 passenger vehicle to please people who drive on pavement but want a 4x4 option. Stock trucks won't be dedicated off-road 4x4s unless you customize it. They are intended for casual road driving with a 4x4 option.

  • Newer trucks have lost the power/weight ratio 20yrs ago.

    Jason HJason H11 kun oldin
  • yes, modern trucks are built for off-road but because they are all very heavy with all the interior luxuries as well as heavy payloads and powertrains, you need to use them wisely and within reason. Heavy vehicles with small tires will typically get stuck in sand regardless of whether it's new or old.

  • I have a 2020 dodge ram warlock and I drive around in the sand by where I fish all the time and more times than not I go to my spot and there is someone stuck there. Same air pressures in there tires as if they are driving on the streets. I air down to about 20 which in my opinion is still a little high but it does the trick and I typically don't have any problems. Of course now that I say this I'll berry my truck. Oh well thats how it goes! Matt loce watching your channel as well as fabrats channel

    Shane NelsonShane Nelson17 kun oldin
  • I think the moral of this entire channel is that literally anything can get stuck anywhere, especially in sand or snow. Just because you have a truck (or even the Banana at times) doesn't make you invincible and you should always use the correct tires (with a spare), extra gas, snow chains, and a basic knowledge of the area/your vehicles capabilities at a minimum
