So I got a call to rescue a family that was stuck for 2 days digging out of the mud at Bullfrog, Lake Powell. Everyone else told them they were on their own.

  • They are selling minivans and calling them SUVs. With fake 4wd and road tires. Matt is going to make millions. Good for him.

  • I know it's none of my business, and I don't expect an answer.... but even though it was a relatively easy recovery, 12+ hours of travel must have made this recovery a very expensive job? Good job, MORR team!

  • When it comes to public use of property I live in the worst State in the land, Texas. Every square inch is owned and what isn't they don't let you do much. I went to Arkansas and they said there are caves out there in a 1/4 million acres...have fun. Texas brags about how much they love freedom but I swear you can't do shit, everything is illegal here.

  • Advice from an Aussie, if you have road tyres forget it. 4x4 and all-wheel drive are not the same. Diff-lockers are magic, low-range is ok. Bare minimum after all that is 1. mechanical winch (electric fails in wet scenarios), 2. RECOVERY BOARDS!!!, 3. Let someone know where you are going and what time you expect to return. 4. At least 20 liters of water, 5. A shovel! Otherwise go home, because you don't know what you are doing. In Australia if you need help it is expected that the bloke helping you uses your gear, and a pull outa sticky situation costs a box of beer or 700ml of whiskey.

  • I hate to ask but i really want to know, what does a recovery like this go for? Im sure its not free. But my guess is the insurance should be paying for this. The alternative being they would have to pay to total out the vehicle if its not recovered. If i had to guess i would say this recovery is in the $2,000 to $2,500 range. Am i close?

  • 10:30 Been on that very unique road many times. Lots of turnouts for viewing. It is highway 12. Take your camera. The Burr Trail is well worth the time to see. Many different scenic conditions, rock formations, vegetation. You don't need a 4 wheeler to travel it, but go when the weather is nice. No rain. My wife cannot handle the switchbacks. She just closes her eyes until we reach flat ground.

    JohnJohn16 kun oldin
  • The Burr Trail has an unpaved section exactly just within Capitol Reef. It really is a funny thing. I drove down to the park border and back to Boulder on my road trip a few weeks back, I need to do the entire thing one day ;)
